August Sone

Board Member and Executive Director

August Sone (he/him) is a junior at Harvard-Westlake School in Los Angeles, California. He is a captain of his high school debate team and qualified to the TOC with 5 bids his junior year, reaching octafinals. He has reached deep elimination rounds at national tournaments such as Stanford, Blake, USC, and won top speaker at Peninsula. He primarily reads policy but has gone for a wide range of different arguments. Outside of debate, he enjoys reading, playing football, and studying economics.

Siddartha Daswani

Board Member

Sid Daswani (he/him) is a junior at The Harker School in San Jose, California. He has been the LD bid leader, qualified to the TOC three times, reaching octafinals during his sophomore year, and has won tournaments like Greenhill, The Glenbrooks, Harvard Westlake, Grapevine, and the King Round Robin. He primarily reads policy arguments but has experience with everything. Outside of debate, he enjoys playing football, hanging with friends, and watching sports.

Lucas Cao

Board Member

Lucas Cao (he/they) is a junior at The Harker School in San Jose, California. He has qualified to the TOC twice, breaking his junior year, and accumulated 9 career bids. As a junior, Lucas cleared at every tournament he went to, reaching deep elims at multiple top tournaments such as the Apple Valley tournament where he was runner-up and top speaker. Lucas primarily reads policy and kritikal arguments, but dabbles in theory and phil as well. Outside of debate, Lucas loves to cook food and read.





Kaison Maruyama

Board Member

Kaison Maruyama (he/him) is a junior at Harvard-Westlake School in Los Angeles, California. He is a captain of his high school debate team and has qualified for the TOC all 3 years of high school, accumulating 11 bids and numerous top speaker awards at national tournaments such as Heart of Texas, Season Opener, and Blake. He primarily reads stock policy positions but dabbles in critical argumentation. Outside of debate, he enjoys playing lacrosse, watching top chef, and hanging out with friends.





Anya Pathak

Board Member

Anya Pathak (she/her) is a rising junior at Edgemont Jr/Sr. High School and debates in LD. She qualified to the TOC in her sophomore year. She has 2 total career bids, and has won several speaker awards and advanced to eliminations in others. She mainly reads kritiks and occasionally some policy arguments. Outside of debate, she loves to go for walks, play tennis, and study history.
